For Hudsonians with reason.

SHARED FACTS // DIFFERENT OPINIONS // ASK UNCOMMON QUESTIONS

Hudson Common Sense is the editorial publication Hudson didn't have, in the classical-liberal tradition of The Economist (1843). We serve the Hudson taxpayer, especially the Working Middle Class. We publish without bylines, because ideas matter more than authors. We name names. Monthly-ish in your inbox, weekly on Instagram. You won't agree with everything we run. That's the point.

WHO PAYS?

Hudson is a Tale of Three Cities: the Wealthy Class who treat it as a weekend campus, the Welfare Class the intermediaries keep dependent on a public purse they skim, and the Working Middle Class who pay the bill.

The arrangement is the Hudson Machine. It runs on three moves. Municipal Capture is how the money flows. The Hudson Handicap is what it costs the taxpayer. Hudson Hypocrisy is the language that sells it as virtue. Capture produces the Handicap. Hypocrisy defends it. The captured word is Community™. Watch what it covers.

We connect the Hudson Heroes (Builders, Stewards, Citizens) into a Corps of Common Sense to dismantle it.

This page is the rulebook. The manifesto is the argument.

WHO DECIDES?

In a captured city, the answer is rarely the voter.

What We Stand For

These are the standards we demand of Hudson's government and the nonprofits it funds with our tax dollars:

Evenhanded. Decisions on evidence and public interest, not party loyalty. We weigh candidates, budgets, planning rulings, and ballot measures on their merits. We will never tell you to vote blue no matter who, or red no matter what.

Efficient. Every public dollar is extracted from a Hudson household. Every hour lost to process is an hour the taxpayer paid for. We measure government by what it delivers per dollar, not by what it announces.

Equal Protection. One bar, one schedule of fines, one assessment formula. When two identical homes pay different tax bills because of who their owners know, the city has stopped governing under law and started dispensing favor.
