The views expressed in our Op-Ed section are the authors’ own. Common Sense publishes a mix of original submissions and curated pieces that first appeared elsewhere. When a column is particularly relevant — say, from Imby or The Gossips of Rivertown — we may repost it verbatim, for the sake of centralising local perspectives in one place. Occasionally, we run recurring columns or standalone essays under a pseudonym. Not every contributor can speak freely under their own name in a small town. This isn’t unusual— The Economist has published unsigned articles for over 180 years, on the principle that ideas matter more than bylines. We agree.
