The views expressed in our Op-Ed section are the authors’ own. Common Sense publishes a mix of original submissions, commissioned pieces, and curated pieces that first appeared elsewhere. When a column is particularly relevant and first published in the NYT, Imby, or The Gossips of Rivertown, we may repost it verbatim and link back to the original, for the sake of centralizing local perspectives in one place. Occasionally, we run recurring columns or standalone essays under a pseudonym. Not every contributor can speak freely under their own name in a small town. This isn’t unusual, The Economist has published unsigned articles for over 180 years, on the principle that ideas matter more than bylines. We agree.
